Session 2 of 17: Planets, Human Nature, and Deeper Insights
In Session 2, Guruji conducted an in-depth class on how planets relate closely to human behaviors, life events, and deeper spiritual truths. The session started with Suchitra’s clear presentation, comparing planets directly to human beings, setting an easy-to-follow context for the discussions.
🌟 Main Points Covered:
Planetary Influences in Human Life
Guruji explained how each planet mirrors human roles, emotions, and relationships. We learned specific planetary relationships and interactions clearly—for example, Mars has difficulties with Mercury, Saturn and Sun oppose each other naturally, while the Moon moves fast enough to avoid conflict altogether. A simple formula was provided to help students easily remember these relationships.
We also explored the significance of planetary placements within certain astrological houses. The 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses are like powerful stages for planets, while the 6th, 8th, and 12th houses (dusthanas) represent life’s difficulties. Guruji shared an easy method for quickly assessing a horoscope based on these placements.
Astrology, Love, and Gemstones
Guruji discussed the concept of love at first sight and how initial planetary impressions impact future relationships. Gemstones were also mentioned briefly, as powerful tools for enhancing planetary influences in our lives.
Caste (Varna) Clarified
Guruji clarified the original meaning of caste (Varna), explaining it was about roles and responsibilities in society, not rigid social hierarchies.

Planetary Conditions and Combustion
Guruji introduced the concept of planetary afflictions and combustion (when planets are too close to the sun), explaining their impact on human lives. Specific planetary relationships and their enmities, such as Mars vs Mercury and Saturn vs Sun, were clearly described.
Planets in Their Own Houses
Guruji highlighted that planets in their own houses have more power and comfort, whereas planets in rented houses or challenging placements feel restricted. He described planets placed in difficult houses (6th, 8th, and 12th) as imprisoned, suggesting more challenging life experiences.
Karma and Spiritual Lessons
The discussion moved into karma, with Guruji explaining how life's challenges are not punishments but opportunities for spiritual growth. He emphasized the importance of helping others to gain blessings and improve one’s own karma. The nature of different planets as beneficial or difficult was also clearly described, especially noting Mercury's influence on intelligence and thinking.
Moon, Mind, and Mental Health
Guruji described the moon's role in influencing moods and emotional health, including different views about the significance of new moons versus full moons. He also addressed how marketing strategies sometimes mislead people regarding health, such as moderate alcohol consumption being portrayed positively despite potential harm.
Planetary Deities and Cultural Symbols
We learned how different cultures interpret planetary energies differently, like the sun worshipped as Agni in Zoroastrianism. Guruji explained the symbolic nature of Rahu and Ketu as opposing karmic forces—Rahu linked to marriage, Ketu to renunciation—and encouraged students to share cultural insights and relevant videos.
Retrograde (Vakra) Planets and Elements
Retrograde planets were discussed clearly, with Guruji explaining they signify strength rather than weakness—comparable to pulling a bowstring back. He also clearly described the Panchabutas (five elements) and their planetary links: Mars (fire), Mercury (earth), Venus (water), Jupiter (air), and Saturn (space), connecting these to various professions.
Astrology and Ayurveda Connection
Guruji made clear connections between astrology and Ayurveda, linking planetary energies to Ayurveda’s doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and the three gunas (satva, rajas, tamas). He noted that historically, astrologers often practiced Ayurveda, reflecting integrated holistic knowledge. Planetary colors were briefly discussed—Mercury is associated with green, Mars with red, and the Sun rules all colors.
Hindu Cosmology and Spiritual Experiences
Guruji shared insights into Hindu perspectives on creation, emphasizing the eternal nature of existence without a clear beginning or end. He explained why Brahma isn’t commonly worshipped, as creation is continuous and already established. Guruji also shared personal spiritual experiences, reminding students that these insights are deeply personal and subjective.
Planetary Cycles (Dashas) and Karma
Finally, we briefly discussed planetary periods or dashas, setting the stage for deeper exploration next session. Guruji emphasized how these cycles relate closely to our karmic journeys.
