📚 BGNR-ENG-09 – Session 3 Recap
Date: 15 June 2025
Session 3 of 17 – Charts, Cycles, Retrogrades & Real-Life Application
In Session 3, we took a big step forward in understanding how astrology ties together astronomy, symbolism, and practical observation. Guruji explained important ideas about the solar system, zodiac, nakshatras, retrograde motion, exaltation, and much more. The class also included live calculations, examples, and direct engagement with students.
🌟 Highlights from the Session:
🌀 Group Updates and Intro
The session began with clarification about the official Telegram group, followed by a prayer from Chandrika. There was a brief check-in on homework and a mention of Chakra Vishnu (from Session 1), along with confirmation that “time” was discussed in the previous session.
☀️🌑 Celestial Motion & Chart Basics
We discussed how planets move through the zodiac:
Moon moves 12–13° per day (completing a cycle in 28 days).
Sun moves 1° per day (365.25 days to return to the same point).
Kepler’s law: planets sweep equal areas in equal time.
Mercury appears to move backward (retrograde) when opposite to the Sun.
Students were encouraged to practice drawing charts, mark degrees, and get familiar with house positions and divisions like Drekkana.
🔁 Zodiac Signs & Symbolism
We explored the meanings behind zodiac symbols:
Aries rises head-first, Taurus rises back-first, Gemini is ruled by Mercury.
Symbols are man-made representations; don’t take them literally.
Students were encouraged to create their own diagrams or mnemonics to remember rising positions and sign traits.
🪐 Exaltation, Debilitation & Moolatrikona
Guruji clearly explained:
Exaltation = highest planetary strength (linked to past life merits).
Moolatrikona = next best (planet’s own functional zone).
Debilitation = weakest point (opposite of exaltation).
We also discussed Rahu and Ketu’s exaltation placements, and why these positions matter more in prediction than just textbook memorization.
📖 Memorization & Understanding
We went deep into nakshatra structure and serial numbers (notably the 3–12–21 pattern). Students were reminded to:
Memorize all 27 nakshatras in order.
Keep a nakshatra chart image saved on their phone.
Use self-made systems (mnemonics, sketches) for faster recall.
🧠 Planetary Cycles & Life Events
We talked about Jupiter and Saturn’s 60-year cycle and how it aligns with real-life events like retirement. This helped us understand why some cultures place emphasis on certain life stages. We also practiced estimating someone’s birth year using planetary placements.
🌡️ Elements, Ayurveda, and Signs
The session linked astrology to Ayurveda:
Vata, Pitta, and Kapha show up in signs and planetary behavior.
Mercury was described as having all three qualities (Tridhatu).
Water signs were compared for fruitfulness (good for prediction).
We also reviewed the MFC (Male, Female, Chara) classification and how fixed signs may affect things like house stability — including an anecdote about a tsunami-surviving home with a fixed door.
🗣️ Sleep, Voice & Speech in Charts
Guruji introduced the three types of sleep (Sattvik, Rajasik, Tamasic), and their effects on clarity of mind. He asked students to identify the “houses of voice” and reflect on how speech plays a role in charts and predictions.
🌍 Historical Notes & Examples
There was a short note on the origin of April Fool’s Day (linked to shifting the New Year from April to January). We also used real examples like Kathy’s chart (October 22) and Jupiter’s transit to estimate her birth year, which students correctly deduced as 1981.
📌 Tasks for All Students:
Memorize the 27 Nakshatras in zodiac order.
Practice drawing full zodiac charts, including degrees and house positions.
Study and memorize:
Planetary orbital cycles
Mulatrikona positions
Exaltation vs debilitation
Watch animation videos on YouTube:
Mercury retrograde motion
Planetary movements
Create your own mnemonics or diagrams to remember zodiac signs and their traits.
Review the elemental classification, fruitful vs. barren signs, and MFC model.
Practice identifying Drekkana and understand its interpretations.
Familiarize yourself with at least one popular horoscope for reference.
Practice spotting retrograde motion, especially for Saturn and Jupiter (opposite Sun).
Save and refer to the Nakshatra division image on your phone.
Session 3 was packed with practical tools and deeper insights. As we move forward, stay consistent with revision and observation — especially focusing on nakshatras, sign traits, and planetary motion.
See you all in Session 4!
Warm regards,
