Session 8.1 of 17- Revision 1

Session 8.1 of 17- Revision 1

🌠 BGNR-ENG-9 – 8.1 Revision Session 1 Recap

📅 Date: 27 July 2025🧭 Theme: Planetary Relationships, Aspects & Practical Interpretation

This session brought together creativity, classical principles, and practical chart interpretation. We began by reviewing a unique project—planetary relationship dialogues—to humanize astrological understanding. Gautham guided the group through clarifying planetary friendships and enmities, software compatibility fixes, and deeper conceptual interpretations using Jagannatha Hora. We also explored Nakshatra logic, Bhava charts, and key differences between Western and Vedic astrology.

🔍 What We Covered

  • Planetary Dialogues:

Suchitra’s creative Excel sheet used dialogues to illustrate planetary friendships, enmities, and behaviors. Gautham emphasized Guruji's teaching of visualizing planets as people to internalize emotional qualities and psychological effects.

  • Friendship Rules Refresher:

We revisited permanent vs temporary friendships, refining logic using Moolatrikona lords, house ownership, and exaltation signs. Mars' dislike for Mercury’s logic was added to the dialogue for realism.

  • Combustion Clarification:

Gautham briefly defined combustion and confirmed it would be covered fully in a future session. We noted its weakening effect when planets come too close to the Sun.

  • Jagannath Hora Setup:

Technical guidance was provided on setting .jhd files to open with the correct .exe file. Mac and Linux users were advised to use emulators (e.g., Pine).

  • Aspect Table Interpretation:

Students were shown how to read color-coded aspect tables by increasing the strength value from 60 to 100. Negative or malefic aspects can still appear green but must be judged contextually.

  • How to Read a Chart:

Gautham reminded the class to always begin with Lagna (Ascendant) and its planets before moving outward to other houses. Students were advised to wait for Guruji’s Bhava Chart session before jumping into deeper interpretations.

  • Combining Classical + Modern Insight:

While BPHS rules should guide interpretation, practical examples (e.g., JFK’s chart) show how afflictions can be both karmic and spiritual. We were reminded that beneficence is determined by both nature and functionality—e.g., Jupiter being a natural benefic, but possibly a functional malefic based on house ownership.

  • Nakshatra Logic:

Students were encouraged to build personal charts for Nakshatra-pada-planets to grasp deeper mathematical harmony in Vedic astrology. The 3-9-27-108 pattern was reiterated.

  • Vedic vs Western Astrology:

Gautham explained the 23-degree drift of the Western zodiac. A shared video and article helped highlight why Vedic astrology aligns better with actual star positions.

  • Conjunctions vs Aspects:

Gautham stressed treating both conjunctions and aspects as equal indicators of influence, noting that actual degree distance matters more than sign-based placement.

  • Software Tools & Navigation Tips:

Vimeo transcripts and timestamping were discussed. Jagannath Hora remains preferred for deeper analysis.

📌 What You Should Do Next
  • ✅ Students:

    • Memorize planetary friendships, enemies, and neutralities using Moolatrikona logic.

    • Practice identifying aspects with strength ≥75% using Jagannatha Hora.

    • Start chart analysis with the Lagna before moving to other houses.

    • Study Nakshatra mapping with respect to zodiac math.

    • Review the video on Western vs Vedic zodiac difference and the 23° shift.

This session reminded us that astrology is both structured and symbolic. Learn the rules, but also develop intuition through creativity and cross-checking. Stay focused — Session 9 will bring us further into practical chart interpretation and advanced techniques. 🌌
