Just One Digit
One day, while I was playing snooker at my club, a man named Ramesh asked for my mobile number.
I replied, “9,” and stopped.
He waited for a few seconds and then asked, “Where are the remaining numbers?”
“I have already given you my mobile number,” I replied.
“You gave me only one digit out of ten. You must be joking!” he exclaimed.
I smiled because that was exactly the response I had expected.
Naturally, Ramesh was puzzled and upset by my behaviour. He was about to walk away, assuming that I was unwilling to give him my mobile number. I asked him to stay and reminded him of our previous meeting.
“My Janma Rashi is Katagam”
A week earlier, Ramesh had asked me for a free Astrology reading while we were in the Snooker room in Madras Race Club, Guindy, Chennai.
He told me, “My Janma Rashi is Katagam.”
Katagam—or Karkataka Rashi—means that the Moon in his horoscope is positioned in the zodiac sign of Cancer.
I asked him: “Where are the remaining eight Grahas? I must also know the position of the Lagna. The position of the Moon alone is not sufficient.”
Ramesh immediately replied, “But Astrologers all over YouTube and social media give predictions based only on the Moon Sign. Moreover, I do not know the positions of the planets in my horoscope.”
I explained, “I cannot tell you anything specific or reliable by knowing only the position of the Moon. I need to examine the Ascendant, the positions of all nine Grahas and the Dasha and Antardasha you are currently undergoing.”
However, he did not fully understand what I was trying to convey.
He responded, “Every Astrologer I have met so far gave me a reading as soon as I told them that I was born in Kataga Rashi. You are the first Astrologer who wants to know the positions of all nine Grahas.”
The Mobile-Number Lesson
That was why, when Ramesh later asked for my mobile number, I gave him only one digit from my ten-digit number.
I reminded him: “The other day, you gave me the position of only one Graha in your horoscope. You told me where your Moon was positioned, but there are eight more Grahas as well as the Ascendant.”
“Today, I have given you only one digit from my ten-digit mobile number. Can you call me using that one digit?”
Only then did Ramesh understand my message.
The Ten-Digit Combination of a Horoscope
A horoscope contains the positions of the 9 Grahas as well as the Ascendant. Together, they are like the 10 digits of a mobile number—or the ten elements of a combination lock.
Giving an Astrologer only your Moon Sign is like giving someone only one digit from your ten-digit mobile number and expecting that person to call you.
It simply does not work that way.
No Astrologer can reliably understand your individual karma, character, marriage, profession, health or future by knowing only your Janma Rashi.
General Moon-Sign predictions may describe certain broad trends, but they can never replace the careful examination of a complete horoscope.

If an Astrologer claims to make precise personal predictions from the Moon Sign alone—or if anyone believes that such a thing is possible—we may confidently call it: “The Greatest Joke in Astrology.”
