What is SDT in Astrology ? Saturn Dominated Time ?

Let me introduce planet Saturn. The most beautiful of the planets in our horoscope. A planet that is perhaps the most intriguing because the beautiful rings that makes it unique amongst the planets.

Saturn and the Paradox

In Astrology Saturn is related to the cold and ice and yet in reality Saturn is actually unusually warm. Google and learn about this. Its mutual enemy is the Sun and yet in Astrology we refer to Saturn as the son of Sun. That's another paradox. The most beautiful planet represents dukham ( Sorrow ) in human life. One more paradox. Saturn is traditionally considered as the greatest teacher and fair judge but feared as the ruler of delays, restrictions, isolation, and intense life struggles. Saturn is exalted (at its best) in a sign called Libra which has as it's symbol the weighing balance used in fair trade and fair practices including the courtrooms.

Saturn rules the Saturdays

in our calendars. Saturdays breaks the cycle of work that from Monday to Friday.

Saturn rules the dates 8, 17 and 26 in the calendar.

Saturn rules 3 stars which are the 8th star Pushyami, the 17th star Anuradha and the 26th star Uttarabhadra.

Any time interval in Astrology is always related to a planet. By the weekday a day will be associated with a planet ruling the weekday. On Monday the Moon rules, on Tuesday Mars is the ruler, on Sunday Sun rules etc. In the same way Saturdays are ruled by Saturn. So a Saturday the entire 24 hours is ruled by Saturn and such a time interval is known as a Saturn Dominated Time.

The Moon goes through the stars ( it appears to so because the stars are actually on the background) and there are 27 stars in the Vedic Astrology among the countless constellations. What we mean as a star is not actually a single star. It is mostly a group of star. The length of a Star as per Vedic Astrology is 13 degree and 20 minutes of the Arc in the zodiac belt that is actually 360 degrees and so if you divide 360 degrees by 27 stars you will get each star rules about 13 degrees and 30 minutes. 13.3333333 x 27 =360.

As the Moon goes through each star approximately within 24 hours. That's because the Moon takes 28 days to go round the zodiac. So the Moon after travelling through the 27 stars will be back to the same position on the 28th day. This tallies with the menstrual cycle of the mother because of which birth happens in this world. So Sri Krishna said that the Moon is the reason for rebirth and Sun is the reason for the end of rebirth which is called Moksha (Salvation).

What is 2x SDT ?

When the date 8, or 17 or 26 happens on a Saturday it is called Double Domination of Saturn which I refer as 2x meaning 2 times. The following is not a real calendar, we are just showing you Saturn dates that happen on a Saturday. This is 2x SDT

The 2004 Tsunami is 2x SDT : Sometimes it may be a date ( number based) and another number. Let me give you an example. Take the date of the most notorious Tsunami that devastated many places and took away several lives happened on 26th December 2004. Reduce this date to number format 26.12.2004 which adds to 17 which reduces to 8 (1 =+7=8). So the date 26 is also 8 and the full date when expressed as numbers also adds to 8.

Saturday and Stars of Saturn : Sometime you will notice like today the Nakshatra is the 17th star Anuradha (30 May 2026 as I write this article). Anurudha Nakshatra belongs to Saturn and it so happens the star number is also 17. So today it is Saturday and the Star of Saturn as well. This is a powerful 2x SDT.

The SDT is stronger when it involves a Saturn Nakshatra, then comes Saturday ( Day of Saturn) and then comes the number 8. Numbers are weaker indicators except the number 26.

26 is the most challenging 2 digit number : 26 is the most difficult number among the Saturn numbers 8, 17 and 26 or any number adding to 8 like 35 or 44 etc.

What is 3x SDT and 4x SDT ?

Let me start with an example. Today is a Saturday. The date is either 8, 17 or 26. On top of that the Nakshatra today is also the 8th star Pushyami, the 17th star Anuradha and the 26th star Uttarabhadra. So there are 3 Saturn factors today. This is called the 3x SDTEasy way to remember this is if a baby is born in any of the 3 stars, then the first MahaDasha (Dasha) will be Saturn Mahadasha because these 3 stars are related to Saturn.

What is 4x SDT ?

I am sure by now you know that there is a 4th factor and I am sure you may find it difficult to guess what is the 4th factor. Imagine that it is already 3x SDT and on top of that today in the sky (Transit) Saturn and Moon are together in a zodiac sign. Alternatively Saturn and Moon are mutually aspecting i.e. Saturn looks at Moon and Moon looks at Saturn in a 1/7 Drishti (Aspect).

SDT is sometimes GOOD

As in Astrology every thing has 2 sides of the same coin. While SDTs are bad for certain types of Horoscope for others it is extremely favourable. Take Prime Minister Narendra Modi. You will find major events in his life always has something to with number 8. For example the Prime Minister was born when it was the 17th Star Anuradha. Narendra Modi took the oath as the Prime Minister of India for the first time on May 26, 2014. December 26, 2012 he took the oath as a Chief Minister of Gujarat for the 4th time and then went on to become the Prime Minister. Saturn is very favourable to him. Sade Sati is very favourable for him. He announced demonetisation on 8th at 8 PM.

You should keep a record on the major events that happen to you during SDTs. Over a long period of time you will surely see the pattern. Even without the help of an Astrologer you should be able to find out if SDTs are good or bad for you. Your life events prove a lot of things and that should be always used to corroborate with Astrology findings in your horoscope .

If a person is going through a favourable Saturn Dasha ( Mahadasha of Saturn is for 19 years) or Saturn Antardasha the during an SDT the favourable event happens.

Do the remedies during SDT

Once you found out that SDT is giving you a lot of trouble you should start doing remedies during the same SDT. Go to Vishnu Temples or Hanuman Temples or Church or any place of worship in accordance to your belief system on a Saturday or any SDT. Charity during SDT helps a lot. Donate generously to the poor on Saturdays ( SDT) and differently abled people who is seeking help. You may give up a meal during SDT to decrease the problems going on in your life. When you donate use the numbers like 8 dollars donation or 17 dollars donation or 26 dollars donation. You may donate Rs.8000 for a wheelchair for a differently abled person. According to one's means somehow relate the remedy to these numbers. Donate to 8 people. In other words try to do it such a way that there is something to do with Saturn while doing the remedy.

Saturn is old. So donate to old age home.

Saturn rules the bed for old people. (indicating they are sick), So donate 8 beds to an old age home during an SDT.

If your Ascendant (Lagna) is such that Saturn is a functional malefic then you should take the above remedies as the most important remedy of your life. You must memorise everything about SDT. On the other hand if Saturn is your yogakaraka and functional benefic you may not be bothered so much by Saturn.

Sade Sati Phase ( 7.5 years Saturn phase)

When a person goes through a Sade Sati phase ( 7.5 years Saturn phase) then during SDT the most unfortunate events happen. The road accident may happen on a Saturday that is also a 17th (Date). A fracture during a SDT. Job loss on a 26th for example. The moment this happens reach out to your favourite Astrologer.

Ashtama Shani ( Transit Saturn in 8th from your Moon Sign)

When a person goes through Ashtama Shani ( Transit Saturn in 8th from your Moon Sign) then during SDT the most unfortunate events happen. An unavoidable surgery may happen on a Saturday when the date is 8. A breakup with the lover happens on 17th. The moment this happens reach out to your favourite Astrologer.

My personal experience

Whenever I have a consultation with my client I notice that the person is going though a Saturn phase in their life. People go to Astrologers mostly because they are going through tough times, I have noticed that these clients are going through a challenging Saturn phase and that is why the consultation is happening during an SDT. Never in my life a consultation happened with the SDT involvement. During an SDT if a consultation happens I always noticed that my client was going through a Saturn phase. This is the proof that SDT is true and whatever I have spoken about is also true.

I am associated with an organisation where the members are differently abled. The Secretary whenever he does any social service project will invite me to be the chief guest and due to my busy schedule usually I do not attend the event but always support from outside because all my students and clients going through Sade Sati or other Saturn problems will generously donate to the Secretary. The interesting point is for 25 years whenever he gives the invitation I found that the date and day or star was always related to Saturn - SDT. The truth is he never looks into Astrology. After several years of observation one day I told him about this. He never bothered to acknowledge as he was only worried about the social service part. He told me that he believed in only hard work and God. I remained silent and till date I never tried to convince him about SDT.

Once it so happened that an event was fixed on 25th and an IAS officer was expected to me the Chief Guest. This was a larger event. Next day was 26th and also a Saturday. When the invitation was handed over to me, I stared at it and so the Secretary asked if "any spelling mistake"? I said no. Let me tell you what was running in my mind, "I am sure something is going to happen on 25th that the even will be shifted to the next day". I never told him that. However I discussed this with some of my dear students so there is always a proof of what went on in my mind. On 25th morning I got a call saying the event has been postponed because the IAS officer wanted to have it the next day since the Chief Minister wanted to conduct a special emergency meeting on 25th due to some problem in the state. So finally the event happened on 26th that was also a Saturday.

Several such incidents convinced me that the SDT is the time when Saturn is very active. The question is on which side are you in. The Good side or the Bad side of Saturn. Only you know.
